Top Shot gaffs
are handcrafted from the finest marine grade
stainless steel. Each head is formed with
relief slots for controlled flex and then
triangularly ground and polished to a mirror
finish.
The result? The strongest gaff heads in the
world. They feature an ice-pick cutting point,
stellited for strength and increased durability.
Flyer gaff heads are available in sizes from
4" to 10" and are measured across
the gap from the point to the main shank of
the hook.
All Top Shot gaff head main bar sizes increase
with the hook size to optomise a higher strength
to size relationship, unlike other manufacturers
who maintain one bar size throughout their
complete range to save on production costs.

an inner scallop, which features
two side blades to assist
the point's drive inwards
and a back cutting edge to
open a pocket for the barb
to bury under the skin, with
all points stellite hardened
for a sharper, stronger edge.
The
barb placement is also a unique
Top Shot design used throughout
our range of flyer hooks and
is the secret to its holding
capabilities.The toughest
part of any fish is the skin
and the first 1" to 3"
of flesh. Our barb placement
takes advantage of this with
great results. It also allows
for the greater penetration
of the point to remain deep,
for less movement of the hook
and less damage to the fish.
The
shackle plate is strong and
light. It has three holes
- one large hole to accommodate
rope if necessary and two
smaller D shackle locating
holes, the rear is the main
and the front is a double
up or back up.
